Sour Diesel first became popular in the early 1990s and has been legendary ever since. It's a sativa strain bred by crossing Chemdawg and a mystery sativa (presumably Super Skunk). Sour Diesel effects are dreamy, cerebral, fast-acting and energizing. This strain features a pungent flavor profile that smells like diesel. Medical marijuana patients choose Sour Diesel to help relieve symptoms associated with depression, pain, and stress.
Sour Diesel is fairly sativa-dominant but seems to exhibit a headslam of an indica effect at times, especially if let go late into flowering. It hits the eyes and head immediately, filling them with pressure and energy, while the body seems almost immobile at times, trending heavily towards couchlock — a numbing quality is also often reported, aiding with nerve and muscle pain relief.
Growers say this strain grows best in a dry, outdoor climate and has a flowering time of approx 77 days. Although it does preform rather well in an indoor setting, it can be quite versatile strain. Indoors it will tend to grow shorter but produce a stronger aroma and flavor, while outdoors it can reach heights in excess of 9 feet and draw massive yields of 500grams+ per plant. The drawback to outdoor environments is that the strain tends to enjoy and thrive in dryer conditions and can be prone to mildew and mold forming on the buds in the later stages of flowering cycles. All in all, this is a classic strain with a renowned taste/aroma and an outdoor yield that would keep you satisfied even through the longest winters. It would come highly recommended as a strain to be tried by all.
